Overview of "SNAP Gap" Due to Federal Government Shutdown
Due to the partial federal government shutdown, February 2019 SNAP benefits were issued early on January 16. This has created a "SNAP gap" that is likely to cause significant financial strain for Ohio SNAP participants, because they will experience, at minimum, 45 days between the issuance of February and March SNAP benefits.
February SNAP benefits to be released January 16 by ODJFS
Due to the partial U.S. government shutdown, USDA and the State of Ohio had to release SNAP (food stamp) benefits within one month of the start of the government shutdown, which is why February benefits are being released early.
