AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTAs are national service members that perform indirect service at local organizations, such as recruiting volunteers, building program curriculums, fundraising and grant writing, connecting communities with resources, and creating sustainability within their agencies. As part of the federal agency AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA provides an opportunity for individuals to gain professional experience while contributing to long-lasting solutions to the problems of poverty and disparities in local communities.
The Ohio Association of Foodbanks has operated one of Ohio’s largest AmeriCorps VISTA programs since 2006. Through our AmeriCorps VISTA program, ShareCorps, you can find a one-year, full-time position focused on creating meaningful change for people living at or near poverty.
Benefits of your service include:
- Living allowance of around $1,800 per month (just increased!)
- Health care allowance provided
- End of Service Award of either $7,395 Eli Segal Education Award or $1,800 cash stipend
- Qualified loans placed into forbearance and interest accrued during year paid
- NEW: Bonus $200 monthly housing allowance!
- Childcare benefits provided, if eligible
- Relocation allowance, if applicable
- Biannual in-service trainings and professional development opportunities

Part-time employment, beyond your service, is now permitted with the approval of your host site. College coursework is also permitted but cannot exceed part-time status.

Healthy Harvest Corps
AmeriCorps State and National members serving in the Healthy Harvest Corps program will work to prioritize investments in scaling and sustaining Food Is Medicine initiatives through direct service activities. Members will support new, emerging, and expanding services that address hunger as a social determinant of health.
