AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTAs are national service members that perform indirect service at local organizations, such as recruiting volunteers, building program curriculums, fundraising and grant writing, connecting communities with resources, and creating sustainability within their agencies. As part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps VISTA provides an opportunity for individuals to gain professional experience while contributing to long-lasting solutions to the problems of poverty and inequity in local communities.
The Ohio Association of Foodbanks has operated one of Ohio’s largest AmeriCorps VISTA programs since 2006. Through our AmeriCorps VISTA program, ShareCorps, you can find a one-year, full-time position focused on creating meaningful change for people living at or near poverty.
Benefits of your service include:
- Living allowance of around $1,462 per month
- Health care allowance provided
- End of Service Award of either $6,495 Eli Segal Education Award or $1,800 cash stipend
- Qualified loans placed into forbearance and interest accrued during year paid
- NEW: Bonus housing allowance!
- Childcare benefits provided, if eligible
- Relocation allowance, if applicable
- Biannual in-service trainings and professional development opportunities

Part-time employment, beyond your service, is now permitted with the approval of your host site. College coursework is also permitted but cannot exceed part-time status.

AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates
AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates are national service members that can assist with both direct and indirect service during a 10-week term. As part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates serving with our project contribute vital support to local organizations working to feed and nurture children and families when traditional school-based meals aren’t available.
We have an AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program since 2009, leveraging national service members to help connect food insecure children with healthy meals and safe summer programming. Through our AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program, you can find an 8- to 10-week, full-time position focused on creating meaningful change for people living at or near poverty.
Benefits of your service include:
- Living allowance of around $1,462 per month
- End of Service Award of either $1,342 Eli Segal Education Award or $311 average cash stipend
Part-time employment, beyond your service, is now permitted with the approval of your host site. College coursework is also permitted but cannot exceed part-time status.
